Project Goal: We’re all here at EHS together. To combat things like ignorance, insecurity, and destructive peer pressure that divide us, we want to promote general respect, community and equality by sponsoring a Unity Day event. - We are at an age where we’re finding out who we are and where we fit in this world. Even if we aren’t all friends with each other, we can all show respect to each other. - People should be understanding of each other. We have different talents, (dis)abilities, and things about us that make us unique; our Unity Day would help remind students to make an effort to understand each other instead of making fun of each other.

Root Cause: Harassment and bullying are a serious and potentially deadly issue. We’d like to do our part to help promote a culture of respect in our community and to help be an example to other schools in how to prevent the problem before it starts.

Project Plan: - We will publicize the day with a presentation at a Wednesday all school meeting on April 6th, as well as with flyers/ small table tents in the dining hall, a big sign, and announcements. -We will hold bullying and advocacy workshops in our classes (with the permission of our teachers) to raise awareness about the issue. - On Unity Day, we will hand out the bandannas as kids enter the dining hall at breakfast. Students would be encouraged to wear the band however they choose all day. - The armbands will represent the idea that we’re all equal, and as a student body can act together to highlight our common humanity that bring us together instead of those things that divide us. - We will make the arm bands ourselves by tie-dying cloth and dividing it into strips.
