Project Goal: Our project has to do with helping kindergarten and first graders learn to read. We call them our "Book Buddies". Our main Global Call to Action is eliminating extreme poverty because if you can't read, you can't fill out a job application, so therefore you cannot worak and make money to live on. We also touch on Rights for Women and Children & Their Roles as Leaders, and Social Justice and Human Rights for Alll.
Root Cause: One day, we were researching literacy rates in class and we realized that there are TONS of people who are illiterate and cannot read or write. So we studied up on that problem and we are working to increase the literacy rates in our community.
Project Plan: We plan to go to the local elementary school and read to Kindergarten and First Graders one every oither week. |
