Project Goal: To help the young people that society regards as worthless and lowly by assisting them in achieving a better lifestyle. To show these people that they are capable of rising above their expectations and negative environment. To prevent society from shunning the poor any longer.
Root Cause: People who come from poverty are surrounded in an environment full of crime, drugs, violence, and low expectations. Society considers them "bad people" and distance themselves from them. As a result, the impoverished man has no one in their environment to encourage him to improve his social status.
Project Plan: There are two aims of this project:
1) To encourage society to no longer ignore the poor.
Society fears the homeless, the thug, the poor. They are afraid to talk to them and be within their cipher. Consequently, in a way, society does not regard the poor as one of their own. A society must be unified rather than dispersed between the rich and the poor. In order to fulfill this aim, knowledge of the poor must be spread through direct conversation, films, books, or any other means that can break this gap. Once this gap is diminished, society can better understand what exactly are the problems that the poor face. Understanding is the first step in any type of effort for social improvement.
2) To elevate the poor towards better social conditions. By offering assistance to the poor and encouraging them to improve themselves (whether it is getting back in school, acquiring a job, or other improvements to their lives,) the impoverished man can have the opportunity to attain a better life. Assistance can be direct- taking them job hunting, to church, or to school. Or assistance can be indirect- offering them a book, information, or advice. Assistance is important since the impoverished man often finds himself alone and lacks the proper tools or information needed to succeed in society. |
