Project Goal: Our goal is to raise awareness among the student body at UH about the children of sex workers in India and to provide a call to action.

Root Cause: Through the film "Born Into Brothels" our group has learned that the at the root of the problem for the children of sex workers in India is stigma and lack of opportunities for education. If these children are not given access to the tools and resources they need to pursue their dreams then they are likely to accept the status quo, and end up doing the only thing that they know, prostitution.

Project Plan: This project is affiliated with the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Our group is composed of students in a course called Global Justice Issues, taught by Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams and Brene' Brown, Phd, LMSW. We plan to screen the film "Born Into Brothels" for students at the University of Houston. We also have a blog aimed at marketing the event and providing a helpful resource for people looking to read more about issues related to our project. Our goal is to raise awareness among the student body at UH about the children of sex workers in India and to provide a call to action.
