Project Goal: Our mission is to raise awareness of not only global poverty issues, but moreso of local poverty issues. Also, with continuing events, we will raise money for local homeless shelters and work to alleviate local poverty.
Root Cause: It is a sad reality in the United States that millions of people--children, teenagers, adults, and families--have to suffer through extreme poverty in this prosperous nation. Our root cause is lack of awareness of poverty. When the public does not comprehend poverty, it can do nothing to prevent it.
Project Plan: Throughout the next couple of months, we will be hosting soup nights a local churches. Through these events, we will raise both awareness of poverty issues and money for local homeless shelter. We hope to branch out across the Panhandle of Florida and incorporate other groups and organization to raise awareness, and, considering we live in the seat of Florida's government, we hope to pressure legislatures, both directly and indirectly, to do something about local poverty. |
