Hunger Feast
Eliminating Extreme Poverty
Location:Hardwick, Massachusetts, United States
Created:3/4/2010
Last Update:3/4/2010
Project Goal: To educate our school community about the issue of global hunger/poverty. And to encourage students to consider giving to our clothing collection for a local summer camp that serves poor urban families.

Root Cause: The root causes for the problem of world hunger are the legacy of colonialism, an unwillingness to distribute aid, and the international community's unwillingness to forgive debt of Third World countries.

Project Plan: We plan on holding a Hunger Feast event where we serve lunch to our school in proportion to how food is distributed globally. This, coupled with a presentation, will help our community visualize just how stark the contrast is between the rich and poor countries and inspire them to do something about it.
