Project Goal: Doing survey on the reasons leading to poverty and what government and community can do to help. Root Cause: We have learned that poverty is a very complex problem and it will take more than good will to eliminate it. It will require structural changes in the socio-economic system. What we are aiming to do is to start helping our homeless brothers offering than emotional support but also with some of their basic needs (food and clothing. The next step it would be to create a conscience among the the community and the local leaders to lessen the problem. Ultimately, we would like to create a service learning project, so the youth can have a clear understanding of the problem and hopefully will help to eradicate the problem the problem when they become professionals. Project Plan: The participants will participate in a service learning project in which they will start with a three part survey. The purpose is to ask the homeless what are the main reasons why they are in the situation they are in what can they do to change it with our help. The first part of the project will ask them about their personal situation and how they got there. The second part will ask about what they can do and what we can do to to help them. Finally, the last part will be about what society and the government can do to prevent this problem.
