| What specific problem does this project address? How can we work to empower students to affect positive change in their school? |
| What research was done for this project? After learning about the Challenge Day program, we approached the administration about the possibility of bringing the program to this school. Once the initial approval was given and contact made with the Challenge Day organization, plans were made for the implementation of the project in our school. Part of this was to conduct anonymous surveys with all of the students in the school. This allowed the CD planning committee to identify specific areas of concern for the students so that the CD facilitators could plan accordingly. |
| How was this project decided upon? The decision to follow through with this project was made easy by the information available on this organization and by the testimonials we accessed regarding the success of this program in other schools across North America. |
| How will this project remain ongoing? This project centers around a one day "conference" in the school - October 2nd, 2009. We hope it sparks beginning of change and provides us with the tools we need. We may revisit the ideas once a year and bring members of our community back to the school to continue the dialogue we've begun. |
| How is this project going to make a difference? We hope that this project will be the beginning of better communication amongst members of our school community. We hope that these sessions we will be a part of will permanent change in how we deal with bullying and create a positive environment. |
