Free Burma
Social Justice and Human Rights for All
What specific problem does this project address? One of the issues that we have chosen to focus on is that of Social Justice and Human Rights - particularly in Burma. Burma has the potential to be a top economic player in the world, however the proper people have been kept from holding the positions in the government that they have been democratically elected to. For too long, the world has turned a blind eye to Burma and the almost complete violation of the entire Declaration of Human Rights to which the Burmese government signed.
What research was done for this project? Many of us are members of the US Campaign for Burma and have done extensive research not only into the crimes committed by the Burmese regime, but also the politics behind it and some solutions that the international community should try in order to restore freedom to Burma.
How is this project going to make a difference? By raising awareness about the plight of the Burmese people, we can gain more support and put more and more pressure on the international community to act. Instead of silencing the Burmese cry for help, it is time we listen - and use our freedom to promote theirs.
