| What specific problem does this project address? The absence of a feeling of community amongst the 8th grade class at Denver School of the Arts. |
What research was done for this project? To research, the students talked with 8th grade teachers, students and the administrations. We sketched out our mission and goal for hosting a PeaceJam Conferences. This mission helped shape who we invited to be our key note speaker and what type of workshops, mentor group discussions and games would take place. |
| How was this project decided upon? To organize a mini PeaceJam conference for the 8th grade class so that they are able to have fun while getting to know new classmates and learn about themselves. |
| How will this project remain ongoing? This was our first attempt at putting together such a conference and we hope to work with other area middle schools to provide them with the same experience. The conferences will continue to address the needs of the students attending and be planned by DSA PeaceJammers. |
| How is this project going to make a difference? ..."I enjoyed the experience of PeaceJam because of the inspirational speaker Rudy, the open atmosphere of the activities and the fun way the PeaceJammers talked to us about issues." DSA 8th grader |
