Project Goal: To create a community garden out of lands left from demolished buildings. Root Cause: After a couple WMU married couple housing were demolished the land was left barren and a mess. We need to use that land and make them useful to our communities. With this garden we can produce food that we can donate to those in need or encourage others to help continue our work and make the vast land that we haven't used yet into a spectacular garden that can service our community. Working along with the International Studies Program at KVCC, KVCC PeaceJam helped build the primary structures of the garden. WMU dicussed the opportunity to expand if we have a success this year! Eventually the desert-like land that was left over before will now be a lush green oasis that can feed our community. Project Plan: The ground we planted our garden on was once a piece of land that had apartment buildings on it, but since they had been demolish laid empty and desert like. When we began the work a water supply was needed before that was in place we went out with milk gallons to water the newly planted garden.
