Project Goal: Minimize waste of used books and use those books to raise money for a sorely needed health clinic in Rwanda.
Root Cause: An excessive amount of used books unwanted by their former owners and a need of the people of Kibungo Rwanda for a health clinic.
Project Plan: Students during the Heartland PeaceJam SLAM packed books & carted them across campus to the mailroom.
These books, donated in conjunction with the Rwanda Community Partnership Project fundraising effort, will be shipped to Better World Books who covered the postage as well as commiting to pay $1.25 per book they accepted. They will sell these books online. Those that cannot be resold will be recycled.
The $1250 raised from this effort will go towards Fulton, Missouri's Rwanda Community Partnership Project building fund for a sorely needed $100,000 health clinic for women & children in Kibungo, Rwanda. For more information about the Partnership Project (and ways you too can get involved) check out their newsletter: http://www.wix.com/dakotarain2005/Rwanda-Newsletter. (PeaceJammners are pictured in Issue 2.
The Book Drive has now ended. |
