Boulder Prep Celebrates Peace Day!
posted 9/22/2009 at 12:26 PM by Kate P
Jen Cuesta and I had the opportunity to swing over to Boulder on 9/21 to participate in Boulder Prep's International Peace Day activities. Although the weather prevented the kids from setting up in Tom Watson Park as they'd originally planned, the held their celebration right at their school! Activities included a petition to ban landmines signing campaign, mural painting, peace-quilt creating, repairing bikes for local non-profits and more. It really was an incredible event. The energy from the youth & teachers was awesome and I'm so pumped PeaceJam got to be a part of it!

Boulder Prep celebrated International Peace Day with service projects and many other activities. One of these activities was the creation of a Peace Quilt - youth, teachers and members of the community could paint a square of blank canvas with an image of peace. Eventually, all of the squares will be sewn together to complete the quilt.
