Over thirty months of food have been paid for by fundraising done by Trinity Prep’s PeaceJam group, held through the week of January 30 in partnership with WorldVision’s 30 Hour Famine.
The PeaceJammers hosted a Famine Week to create awareness and raise funds, including activities like “Honk for Hunger” and special chapel service that supported their Global Call to Action by highlighting relevant verses in religious texts. Their week of hard work paid off, and the PeaceJam group raised $1,000 over a four-day period.
This weekend, the PeaceJammers will be participating in WorldVision’s 30 Hour Famine as a testament to the hard work they are doing. During the fast, the group will decorate hard-boiled eggs for people experiencing homelessness, create cards of encouragement for local public schoolchildren who need food from the school’s Bread and Backpacks Club that feeds them through the weekend, and will continue to study causes and solutions for world hunger.
Club facilitator Katie Seymour is incredibly proud of her group, saying “PeaceJam gives me a way to encourage students to execute their own ideas about making a difference in the world. They transform me!”
