Still accepting applications for PeaceJam Northeast VISTA opportunities |

PeaceJam Northeast will be accepting applications for our two Americorps VISTA positions until June 10th.
Both positions will be located in the New Haven area. While there will be some overlap in responsibilities, one will have more of an "external" focus; while the other will have more of an "internal" focus.
The major responsibilities of the externally-focused position will be recruiting new and supporting new and existing PeaceJam groups at all curriculum levels (Ambassadors; Leaders; Juniors). This will mean building on existing outreach programs, and creating new ones that focus on bringing new PeaceJam groups on stream, helping recruit volunteers who would work with teachers and youth workers to facilitate PeaceJam groups, helping groups identify and plan Global Call to Action service-learning projects, etc.
The internally-focused position will be more around building our capacity as an organization to serve our school-based and other community-based PeaceJam programs, and would include responsibilities like keeping our web presence (web site, Facebook, twitter) alive and interesting, identifying grants that we should pursue and helping write those grant applications, identifying grants and other potential sources of funding for the PeaceJam groups in the northeast, and being a resource to help them apply for those funding opportunities, managing registration for our PeaceJam Northeast Youth Conference and Slam events, assisting with recruiting and training college student mentors for those events.
