PeaceJam’s video, 2012: The True Mayan Prophecy, is earning considerable attention from industries in the film world, including a nod from the Tribeca Film Institute. Co-founder of PeaceJam, and director of the film, Dawn Engle sat down with the Institute to answer some questions about her documentary.

When asked what messages she wanted the film to convey, Engle replied,
“we all hear the world is going to end in 2012, and that is completely off base. For [the Maya], [it] is a time of great change, which while chaotic in the transition period, will lead to a more balanced and advanced world.”

Engle spent 5 years working on the film, teaming up with Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum, as well as the other eleven Laureates on the PeaceJam board in an effort to spread “the Mayan message of hope, love, and a shift in energy.”
