British Petroleum (BP) has announced the flow of an oil well that has been gushing billions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico has been stopped. Senior Vice President Kent Wells made the announcement on Thursday after a critical pressure test was conducted. This is obviously great news, however, it does not mean that no more oil will leak out of the well.

CNN wrote:
At the moment, it is "too soon" to conclude results because "this is a test," BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said. BP will formally review data from the test with government officials every six hours, Suttles said, so a key time will occur later Thursday night.

This is great news and I'm hoping, praying it lasts. The residents that border the gulf have been through enough.

I really, really hope that this works, and that in the process, the ocean floor has not been cracked or damaged in some way -- that would be an even greater catastrophe.
