Iran's state-controlled television & radio, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), has acted as an extension of intelligence and security agencies implicated in human rights violations since the country's disputed election of 2009, says the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran. The organization conducted a study on the programming released by IRIB since the election and it reveals a close relationship between intelligence and judiciary officials in charge of prosecuting detainees from the election protests.

International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran wrote:
The IRIB has also aired defamatory programs against well–known political personalities and civil society activists, such as Dr. Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Dr. Fatemeh Haghighatjoo, a former member of parliament, in the guise of documentaries. The IRIB has also exerted unlawful coercion on the families of those killed and injured during the past year’s protests to make false statements.

The power of media is incredible, and the fact that Iranians don't have a broadcast station that ISNT owned by the government is very, very scary.

I do see bias in the media in the United States, thanks for asking Brad:) If you think politically, I see it both from the left and the right. It seems that some TV networks or radio stations have an agenda, which isn't the greatest thing when you're supposed to simply report what happens. Granted, there are people out there who have opinion based shows. But sometimes I feel the opinion sneaks into the "News" portion of their broadcasts.
