INTERPOL: Burning of Qur'ans would increase global threat

INTERPOL released a statement today saying that terrorism will increase if the Quran burning in Gainsville, Florida takes place this Saturday. The "International Burn A Quran Day" is planned to take place on the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. (To read PeaceJam's original Newsblog on the event, click here.)

Huffington Post wrote:
The international organization says there are no specific details of threats, but that the Koran burning would lead to "tragic consequences." That could include "the lives of many innocent people," according to INTERPOL Secretary-General Ronald K. Noble.

PeaceJam wants to know what you think? If the Qur'an burn happens this Saturday, will it result in new terrorist attacks?

I hope that INTERPOL's statement influence the pastors decision to not hold this horrible event. I feel it did.

Both points are understandable, but both are pretty stupid and taking things too far as well. Of course it's wrong to destroy things that are dear to people, and, it's just as wrong to threaten people because their point of view.
I can see how the pastor would want to do such a thing, seeing as in most cases people oddly enough think that the only way to get others to listen is to do something drastic and unnecessary (which works, but isn't exactly the right thing to do).
I can also see how people would be upset by the fact that something precious to them is in danger, but they shouldn't go as far as threatening people's lives.
