At last night's board meeting, the members of Trail to a Cure, Inc.'s board of directors met to determine how much funding raised by the 5/1 event would be provided to the two beneficiary organizations (,Rain of Central Missouri and amfAR.

The event raised $16,000 for the causes, which will each receive a check for $8,000.

Rain provides services to those living with HIV/AIDS in Central Missouri and amfAR provides funding for research into a cure for this global disease.

Heartland PeaceJam's team raised funds and volunteered at the event.

Yesiree.

And in a cruddy economy with few event participants than in past years, we increased the amount raised by about 25%--and about 2,000 more than what we expected!

Since the organization formed 3 years ago, we've raised $41,000 for these causes--if my math is right.
