Sean Penn and CNN reporter Anderson Cooper were two of 23 honorees who received awards for their efforts to help the people of Haiti after the devastating earth quake that hit the country six months ago. But many who are homeless are upset with the President of Haiti's ceremony due to the terrible conditions that continue in the country.

Associated Press wrote:
"That is just a way to put the people to sleep. But the people are suffering," Edouard James, a 32-year-old vendor said when he was told of the ceremony. Unable to find a job with his degree in diplomacy, he sells pirated DVDs in a tarp-covered booth.

"We are tired of the NGOs ... saying we will have a better life and better conditions, and then nothing happens," he said.

I know that Sean Penn has been there for 6 months, but an award ceremony to honor him and others is pretty ridiculous considering all the suffering that's going on.

AND, only 2% of the relief-aid money that was pledged by other countries has been received. That's just sad. Read about that here.

It is going to take a long time in Haiti... and we can only hope and pray that people will continue to support this effort!

It is frustrating after all these natural disasters around the world that we have not figured out a good system to distribute help. I mean at this point is seems like a great idea to take some of that donated money and really try to come up with with set plan. I just hope that Haiti has more luck than New Orleans.
