 It's no secret that Archbishop Desmond Tutu has been an incredibly vocal supporter of the latest World Cup, which was hosted by his home country.

For South African critics who say that way too much money was spent on transport and stadiums instead of clinics, classrooms, and homes, Tutu responds:
Desmond Tutu, Dispatch Online wrote: "But people do not live by bread alone. The value of creating an environment in which we literally felt we could touch the stars is inestimable. Our hearts have been filled with joy and our chests swollen with pride. It’s as if we are on the cusp of a new New South Africa,” he said.
"What we have managed to do has great merit. That which has merit should be acknowledged and sustained. Merit should be our guiding light, not political or business positioning." |
