Twelve political prisoners were freed by order of judges of the First Court of Mexico’s High Tribunal yesterday. The case had gained international recognition that lead to a campaign for their release and last week 11 Nobel Laureates called on the President of Mexico to release the prisoners.

BBC News wrote:
The activists were serving long prison terms for the alleged kidnapping of police officers during a protest in the town of San Salvador Atenco in 2006.

But the judges found there had been no real evidence against them.

Jody Williams was in the court room when the judges made their announcements and made a comment afterward:

Jody Williams, The Narco News Bulletin wrote:
“At last, to the people of Atenco who have suffered so much, there comes a hope of justice. I am going to inform my fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureates, above all Desmond Tutu, who is right now praying for the people of Atenco.”

I'm so happy that Jody was there for the ruling. She's such a trooper to travel all the way down there to represent the 11 Nobels. And I'm thankful that the 11 Nobels lent their voices to this great cause.
