PeaceJam's very first Hero Awards Luncheon was a tremendous success! Over 500 people attended our inaugural luncheon and PeaceJam received over $75,000 in proceeds from the event!

Two individuals received Hero Awards, Barbara Bridges and Leslie Stanford. The PeaceJam Hero Award is given each year to individuals who demonstrate outstanding support of the PeaceJam Foundation and who enable PeaceJam to develop and expand programming that engages hundreds of thousands of youth around the world.

The 2009 Global Call to Action Challenge winners were also awarded for their outstanding GCA project. Congrats to Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado!

1992 Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchú of Guatemala gave an inspiring keynote address and shared the Mayan prophecy for the year 2012.

CBS 4 News Anchor Jim Benemann emceed the event and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and Bruce Atchison, Chief of Staff for Colorado's Lieutenant Governor also shared a few words.
