The ongoing drought in Venezuela is apparently drying up a reservoir and exposing an amazing looking church that had been underwater since 1985.
Check it out! |

Amazing photos, very sad situation. I wonder why they didn't deconstruct the church before filling the area with water... |

Apparently, some remnants of the town, including the cemetery, were also hiding underwater there! It is definitely a sad situation... that is a lot of water to disappear so quickly. But... still, amazing pictures!
I wonder if they have ever had the reservoir empty out like that before, only to have it be replenished? I know Israel's Lake Kinneret (also known as the Sea of Galilee), one of its primary sources of drinking water, is pretty constantly in danger of becoming unusable as a water source because of its low water levels (but I think there are years in which it gains at least a bit more water, to keep it going for a while). |

I don't much about it--it was just a cool picture and something I hadn't seen before. It was a stumble upon thing. |
