 Day one is over. I had a great day.
The service that our PeaceJammers provided at Jackson Street Youth Shelter (one of 12 service projects this year at PJNW) was really eye opening, and really inspired the participating youth to find Youth Shelters in their own communities to find ways to volunteer at. Today we learned what the typical conditions are for homeless teens in Benton and Linn Counties in Oregon, assembled emergency hygiene kits, and sorted donated clothes. Our volunteer time essentially saved the shelter $120 that can be used to purchase food and school supplies for their clients.
