My geography students and I discovered this site while we were playing around with National Geographic's resources, and we thought it could be a useful tool for PeaceJam.
www.actionatlas.org
Much like our site, people can join, use various social media, and post information about projects they're doing that benefit the world (in this case, specifically in the science/geography heavy categories of conservation, humanitarian work, cultures, science and exploration, climate change, and energy). I thought facilitators/clubs could use it to post any GCA projects they're doing that fall under one of these headings, or to get ideas, information, or contacts for projects similar to these. It's also a way to spread information about our work and bring more people to PeaceJam.
They also have ways to "fan" different projects and even donate money to specific projects. Clubs can use this to promote their work and to fundraise. Also, groups can partner with Action Atlas, though I'm not sure what that entails and how or if it would benefit PeaceJam to do so. Yay geography and saving the world! |
