Joan HAlmost all that I know about India I learned since moving here in 2008. One of the most impressive facts is that with a population of almost 1.2 billion people, it is the world's largest democracy. Since gaining independence in 1947, several Indians have become known world wide for their efforts in achieving peace...Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Mother Theresa (who was actaully born in Croatia).

I'm reading a new book A better India, a better world by NR Narayana Murthy, Infosys Founder. The book is addressed to youth and its title for me underscores the power of Peace Jam. Making our own locations better - be it India or Indiana - helps make the whole world better.

Peace Jam is a great organization to help create the "billion acts of peace". Our school, Stonehill International School, is located in South India. We look forward to interacting with other Peace Jammers here in India and around the world.

Brett EGreat post Joan! I love India a lot. Penpa grew up there and that's where we met. We lived together in Delhi for 6 months back in 2007. We've traveled a decent amount around the country and also lived in Dharamshala for a while.

We can't wait to go back. Obviously India is huge but if we get into your neck of the woods we'd love to come say hi and see your school (which we both think sounds amazing!)

Yeah the kindness and generosity of the Indians really has been a huge part of Tibetan life. Thanks to their generosity places like TCV were able to be developed.

Tori MIndia, sigh, I still spend too much time dreaming about moving there permanently. I've never felt so welcome as when I worked in Tamil Nadu. Extraordinary is the best word I can think of to describe India.
