Brett EIf you're trying to figure out how to format your posts, add youtube videos and overall use BBCode, check this thread.

How The Message Board Works:

The Message Board is broken into several sections: Public Discussion and Affiliates + Regions.

Public Discussion - These boards are visible to everyone and include General Chat, PeaceJam Chat, Project Chat and Event Chat. General and PeaceJam chat are self evident. Project and Event chat are cool - whenever someone creates a project or event, a new post is automatically generated on those boards and linked to from the project/event page. People can also create new posts the old fashioned way.

Affiliates + Regions - Every Affiliate Region has its own board for people to talk about local topics and all of the boards are public. Chapters post in their affiliate region board, so that means California chapters use the California Affiliate board. When you join an affiliate region the forum knows it and defaults this section to initially only show you the board for your region. But you can click to expand and see the boards for everyone else's region and go say hello =)

Navigating and Posting

When you first visit the message boards you will see the index. This lists all the sections and the boards within each section. Clicking on the title of a board will allow you to enter it and see the threads.

Board titles are circled in red. Section titles are circled in blue.

Once you enter a board you will see a list of threads. Each thread title can be clicked to see the posts. Each post is like an email, and each thread has a string of posts replying to each other. You will notice that the thread title at the top has "Announcement" in front of it. This means the thread has been specially marked and is important to read. You will also see "Sticky" threads which are intended to stay at the top of the board since they have important information.

Also, now that you are in the board (in this case General Chat) you have a new option up top in the form of red links. This area is for navigation and allows you to see the entire General Chat Board, the Public Discussion Section, or go back to the Index.

Thread titles are circled in red. Navigation is circled in blue. The button you push to create a new post is circled in Green.

Finally we get to the posts. You will see that you still have navigation options in red up top. Then each post is in its own box. If a person has uploaded a picture to their profile, it will appear with their post. On top of their post it lists the time and date of the post, and who posted it. You can click on the posters name to view their profile. On the upper right hand side of a post are the post options, which allow you to Private Message the poster (PM), Quote what they said, or Edit your post.

The post and poster information is circled in blue. The post options are circled in red.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the post there is a "Quick Reply" box where you can make your own reply post. The controls along the top of the box allow you to use bbcode to format your reply and bold, italic, underline your post. You can also do a quote which puts quoted text in a box, add an image or post a URL link. To use all of the coding features, click the button that you want to use, put the text into the fields and hit "Go". Once your post is ready to go, you can either preview or submit it at the bottom.

Post formatting options are circled in blue. Post preview and submission is circled in red.

Now that you know how things work, go ahead and post away!

Steve SAnd, for what it's worth, I haven't made an auto-image resizer thing-a-ma-jig for these boards yet so posting large images will make the page look a little wonky.

In the meantime, those who use image tags (the [ img ] [/ img ] tags, minus the spaces) can specify how big the image should be on the page by using [ img=size ] [/ img ] instead.

For example, if I want an image of width 300px, I'd use [ img=300 ]image url[ /img]

If my rambling makes any sense...

Brett EAhhh, good point. Oversized images really mess things up so please do resize them so that they fit!

Marshall MYou said "You" 32 times in this post.

I figured that out by searching for the "you" in "youtube". Sadly, the full "youtube" returned zero results...I was looking for instructions on how to post a video.

Can you help me or not? Sheesh.
