Brett EIf something doesn't work properly, or you come upon an error page, please report it here.

When you post, please be sure to:

1) Include the URL for the page you were on when the error occurred
2) If you are given an error page, please copy/paste all the info on the error page into your post

Thanks!

Brett EProject Registration Page

When registering a project we keep getting a popup with the following error, but it doesn't cause any problems. The project still seems to register just fine.

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 0

Steve SYeah, that's a common bug with AJAX (which this site uses) and it's kind of a pain.

You can read about it here

There are work-arounds for it, but at the expense of security. If that's worth it for the project registration page, lemme know.

Update

I made some superficial changes to the Project Registration page. Let me know if you still experience the error.

Yeah, whatever you did got rid of the popup =)

We realized that the error came up only when we DID NOT pick a state after picking USA as the country. The problem is that after you pick USA as the country, state often stays gray. Penpa didn't realize she was supposed to do state because when she clicked it nothing happened since it was gray. To get it to work a lot of times you have to pick USA, then pick another country, then pick USA. Or if you tab from city to USA, then hit "u" and tab out, state usually works.

Another weird glitch we're having is that while adding info to the register project page it often randomly deletes the info we've put in the fields and forces us back to the top of the page. Sometimes it deletes all the text, sometimes it just removes the issue that you chose, sometimes both. It usually leaves affiliate alone though. Not sure what that's about and it's hard to explain / recreate. It's very random.

Ryan JIssue: Hitting enter does not work to login
Solution: If enabling logging in by hitting enter is not an option, have a caption that says so.

Ryan JIssue: There is no "Cancel" button when using the Bold, Itailics, URL, buttons on the forums.
Solution: Add a cancel button.

Ryan JIssue: The map is working great but the "Search for your Affiliate" doesn't seem to be working yet. I selected Affiliate> United States> and typed "Rocky Mountain" into the search box. No results came up.
Solution: This may be a work in progress but I thought I should mention it if you were unaware that it was an issue. Also, a search by zip code would come in handy.

Ryan JIssue: When I went to join my affiliate, the confirmation page lacked the "ok" button for about 30 seconds. It then appeared.
Solution: Again, this may be a temporary but I am just letting it be known.

(not the exact URL. The page is the confirmation page that shows up upon joining an affiliate.) http://peacejam.distantcity.net/affiliates.aspx?affID=2#content

Yeah this messes some people up but I think using enter isn't an option (at least not anytime soon) so a caption is a good idea.

If you left click back in the message body the box goes away, so this isn't urgent but a cancel button would definitely be nice, especially if it wiped all the text from the boxes so you could start fresh.

I think that it might be a bit confusing - pretty sure that the keyword search is supposed to be done on its own. If you don't select any drop down menus and just keyword search "rocky mountain" then it comes up just fine.

yeah I'm 99.9% sure it's temporary. I've never had trouble with that button before, but I have had the same problem with other parts of the site randomly, and then later it works just fine. Sometimes lag spikes.
