3rd Annual Trail to a Cure Ride/Walk/Run for HIV/AIDS
Project Created: Monday, December 14, 2009
Project Leader: Scott M
Location: Columbia, United States of America
Project Goal: Trail to a Cure's mission involves raising funds to benefit amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research and Rain of Central Missouri. We are working in memory of those we have lost to HIV/AIDS, in honor of those living with the disease, and in hope of a cure. Funds raised are split equally between the two beneficiary organizations to promote research into a cure and to provide services for those living with HIV/AIDS.
Project Cause: HIV/AIDS is not over. It may not be as fatal when diagnosed as it once was. But it is still a huge issue, globally speaking.
Project Plan: We will organize (for the 3rd time) a Ride/Walk/Run event where 100% of participants' funds will be passed through Trail to a Cure, Inc. to the two beneficiary organizations.
We will raise funds through sponsorships, memorial donations, and Feast 2 FIGHT AIDS events (dining out fundraiser held monthly throughout most of the year where 15% of the participating diners' tabs goes to TTAC).
The Trail to a Cure Board and Planning Committee meets 1-2 times each month to hold board meetings and work sessions to plan event details, manage the organization, and plan other events, such as World AIDS Day observances each December.
amfAR funds AIDS research that is just outside the funding parameters of major research funders like the NIH. Rain provides support for HIV/AIDS sufferers where we are based (in a multi-county area in central Missouri).
The Ride/Walk/Run is held the first weekend in May each year.
