PeaceJam Bot$10 Day

Project Created: Monday, October 19, 2009

Project Leader: Kayla P

Location: Westminster, United States of America

Project Goal: $10 Day is a fundraiser done at Standley Lake High School for Rise International. Rise International is an organization committed to building schools and training teachers in rural areas of Africa, where education and resources are limited. Our goal is have as many people as possible donate $10 to help this organization prosper.

Project Cause: Due to lack of funding, school materials and teachers, education for children in Africa is very limited.

Project Plan: Peace Jam at SLHS starts off by promoting $10 Day at the annual homecoming assembly. Members of the club begin taking photos of individuals holding a sign that says something along the lines of, "I pledge to donate $10 on $10 Day." The week of $10 Day, Peace Jam hosts Africa Night for two nights. Africa Night educates people about the problems in Africa and also promotes $10 Day. On the day of the event, members of Peace Jam visit each classroom to collect donations from students, teachers and other staff members. We then count each and every dollar and penny, find our total in donations, and the donation is sent to Rise International.

So I went and edited ur video so that it's associated with your project, which makes it appear on your project page. You can use the controls in the blue box on the right hand side of your project page to create an event and to do news posts updating us about your project.

I just now saw this reply--sorry Jasmin! On the two Africa Nights we usually show a couple videos from Invisible Children or another source, present the students with facts, promote $10 Day, have a guest speaker and the improv team performs something to lighten the mood a little bit.

Jasmin MNo problem Kayla, I didn't even get back on the site until today.

But that sounds like a lot of fun, especially the improv team, but also really informative.
