Can you turn down the opportunity to work with a Nobel Peace Prize winner and impact the lives of hundreds of youth? Apply to be a Mentor at the 10th Annual PeaceJam Youth Conference with Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum!
Refreshments will be provided.
What is a PeaceJam Mentor?
Mentors are volunteers ages 18-28 who work in pairs with groups of high school students during the two-day PeaceJam Youth Conference. You will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with a Nobel Peace Laureate for an entire weekend. Mentors work with high-school age youth from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, guiding them through difficult, mature, and controversial conversations. It is your job as a Mentors to show students that a more peaceful life is possible. Therefore, we spend a considerable amount of time training and preparing our mentors during the months before our conference. Mentors are selected to be as diverse as possible, and you will likely work with someone who is very different from you in a variety of ways. For most Mentors, the Youth Conference weekend is a life-changing experience.
You can apply now at http://greatlakespeacejam.org/node/186. Applications will be accepted through March 3rd, 2012.
