Why People Support PeaceJam:

Governor Bill Ritter, congratulating PeaceJam for their 2008 Nobel Peace Prize nomination

"PeaceJam and its mission were born in Colorado; its roots remain here. The people in this state believe in optimism, and they believe that PeaceJam demonstrates that we can make a positive change by solving problems together - only if we work together."

Archbishop Desmond Tutu - Nobel Peace Prize winner

"I have been hugely impressed by the degree of understanding and passion for peace issues that the PeaceJam program has instilled in young people around the globe. The PeaceJam program is tapping into the energy and goodwill of young people and they are becoming catalysts for positive change."

Dawn Axelson - 3rd/4th Grade Teacher

"When I hear kids say 'that's not what Desmond Tutu would do' or 'let's write letters to get them to change that,' I know that the students are learning to become advocates for their world. In a day when we need to provide children with true role models and heroes, I believe that the PeaceJam Curriculum should be embedded into various curricula everywhere."

Andy Miller - PeaceJammer

"PeaceJam really got me charged up to go out and work on even the littlest things to help bring about change. Before PeaceJam, I thought only people in far off places, or those high level politicians were the ones who would change the world. Now I know better. All it takes is you."

PeaceJam Partners in Peace

PeaceJam has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and is the only organization in the world with so many Nobel Peace Prize Winners working together for a common cause – our youth. But we cannot do this vital work alone. We need Partners in Peace – individuals who share PeaceJam’s vision, who want to deepen their commitment to supporting PeaceJam programming around the globe, and who want to invest their financial resources in what they greatly value – young leaders for our future.

Partners in Peace allows Friends of PeaceJam to practice generosity in a way that provides steady and sustainable support to PeaceJam, fueling our work to create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world. How Your Donation Will Help

With the support of small individual donations, PeaceJam highlights in 2009 include:
  • Launching a new state-of-the-art action-networking website where PeaceJam youth can log their projects, upload photos and videos, keep updated on events and news, and communicate with other youth around the world. PeaceJam’s website now sees nearly two million hits per month!
  • Engaging a team of 28 AmeriCorps VISTA Members to build the capacity of PeaceJam programming in 15 sites across the nation through the second year of PeaceJam’s bold ‘Poverty to Peace’ Initiative.
  • Hosting 14 transformative Youth Conferences with Nobel Peace Prize Winners, engaged over 14,000 youth in year-round programs around the world, and added several thousands GCA projects to our goal of ONE BILLION Global Call to Action projects completed by the year 2018.
  • Awarding the first Global Call to Action Challenge Award, recognizing PeaceJam youth from Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado for their GCA project that established a recycling program and saved their school over $60,000 through energy efficiency initiatives!

We understand that these are challenging financial times for many. Today, more than ever, PeaceJam needs your support. We need your help to reach our ambitious goals for 2010 which include:
  • The build-up to ONE BILLION Global Call to Action projects
  • New PeaceJam Chapters in Europe and Latin America
  • The expansion of PeaceJam Juniors, Leaders, Ambassadors, Scholars, and Juvenile Justice programs around the globe
  • The third year of PeaceJam’s AmeriCorps VISTA ‘Poverty to Peace’ Initiative that will be focused on youth-led GCA projects that address genuine community needs and help eliminate poverty through sustainable-living practices

PeaceJam allocates 84% of expenses to programs and services directly affecting the over 600,000 youth served since 1996. Fundraising accounts for only 6% of PeaceJam expenses while only 10% of PeaceJam expenses go toward general and administrative costs.

Your donation to PeaceJam will allow us to support many more youth as they commit to creating positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world.
