October 9th...

October 9th seems like a million light-years away! Being patient isn't exactly something I'm good with, but I'm working on it! I wish I could have found out about PeaceJam sooner so my application could have been the first one turned in. I'm happy that I did get a chance to turn it in though, even though I was close to missing the deadline. I'm nervous that I won't get to be part of the Slam, but working with PeaceJam in any way is satisfying either way. It doesn't really matter in what capacity I would be involved in as long as I am involved and working for a better tomorrow. My only regret is that I didn't find out about PeaceJam until now, a year before I graduate; but its never too late to give back and find a cause. Regardless of the timing or capacity of my service I'm excited about PeaceJam!

Get in touch with Rody! that's your best chance of getting into the slam.

You could become a VISTA when you graduate.

Yay! I always admired people who got involved with clubs/programs their senior year. It shows you really care about it at that point.

And don't worry, graduating from college doesn't mean you have to stop being involved with PeaceJam. I myself didn't hear about it until I had been out of college for a year, and now I'm a VISTA. There are always tons of volunteer opportunities as well, even if you're out of school.

Being a VISTA rocks. If you're looking for a stable job, where you'll learn heaps about yourself and how to effectively make positive change, apply to be a PeaceJam VISTA. I'm about to re-up for my second year.

Otherwise you could go to your local affiliate to volunteer at the office. I'm sure they could use a hand there.

Even though it was after you would have liked to discover PeaceJam, at least you found us. Spread the word.

Thanks everyone!! I have actually looked into AmeriCorps for when I graduate and everyone I know who has been involved has had wonderful things to say about it. I think it is the best fit for me, and its nice to know that even though I found peacejam late, I can still involve myself after I graduate :)
