Living a greener life (and some incredible art)......

I was reading through an article in magazine and I came across some amazing statistics involving small daily lifestyle changes we can all make! So read, enjoy, do, pass it on, repeat!!

Pounds of carbon you could save per year by making these changes:

Forego red meat one day a week; eat poultry, eggs or (sustainable) fish instead: 557

Wash four out of every five loads of laundry in cold water: 864

Replace five incandescent bulbs with CFLs or LEDs: 500

Recycle all household paper, plastic and glass: 1000

Plug the TV and cable box into a power strip and turn it off when not in use: 240

In warm months, set the air conditioner to 78 degrees or above: 726

Hang-dry one load of laundry per week: 229

Drive 10 fewer miles per week; walk or bike instead: 340

In winter, keep the thermostat between 60 and 68 degrees:
1,416 electric; 1,920 gas

Cut daily shower time from eight minutes to five: 513

SO EASY!! Check out this link to see some incredible art work illustrating dire threats to the worlds oceans!

This is an excellent list! We are doing most of these things already, but not all of them -- and we could definitely do more :)

This is some great information. This lets me know how much of an impact I am making with some things and also what else I should be doing.

Wow! That art work is really cool and those numbers are absolutely shocking! It's interesting how people can only comprehend a couple thousand when it comes to numbers. If this is true, then this art work is much needed to show people how much we are REALLY consuming in only seconds. It's unbelievable!

Thank you, Andy, for this list! I always want numbers like these on hand to assess the impact. We all know we should be making changes to our routines to be less wasteful and sloppy with our resources, but sometimes we need to be offered numbers and figures to make that shift more compelling. Thank you :)
