Let Us Rise participated in the Rally for Higher Education on March 3rd, 2010. We asked people, "What is your vision for public education?". Here is what some people had to say:
Michelle Free Education For All! No matter race, nationality, gender and economic level.
Robin To turn education in to a right not just a privilege. Higher education not only will better ourselves as a whole, but better our surrounding communities. I want to see higher education considered a necessity, not just and investment
Scott Fee Education from cradle to grave
Joshua For education to be an unconditional right.
Shannon That government be able to provide a place for any and everyone to seek higher education, regardless of their financial standing.
William To have class outside once a week. Then we could make more people out in the community about higher education. I would like to see a better look at Native American history from their point of view.
Katelyn Where higher education is made possible for all people.
Kristen To have free education for all from pre-school and on!
Jennifer Where ideas are expressed freely. For everyone, regardless of race or socio-economic status. Everyone is entitled to a quality education. Where college is affordable, so parents and students don't have to work multiple jobs to pay for everything. I would like to see more bilingual education. The U.S. is very behind in terms of multi-culturalism and multi-lingualism. Education is a duty!
Ric Free education for all, 100% literacy stop funding the war, start funding education.
Robert Free education, campus democracy, liberatory pedagogy, affirmative action.
Mussie Equal educational opportunities that doesn't discourage against gender, race, or how much money you have.
Angelica For more adequate accessible education system that focuses more on the education of youth and students than the almight dollar. Also it must be inclusive of backgrounds, culture, and legal status should not be an issue.
Cindy I am embarrassed that we are 50th in the nation for funding higher education. I don't want my kids or even myself to have to go to another state to be able to afford a degree and better job. I love Colorado and want to be proud of it again.
Patrick Free, based on a liberatory pedagogy and not indoctrination.
