I decided to get involved with PeaceJam after I heard about my roommates experience as a mentor last year. She described it as one of the most rewarding days of her life with the focus being purely on peace and love. This was such a happy and intriguing idea to me and I just wanted to get a piece of that glow she had after having been a mentor for only one day.
Unfortunately, I can't say that I have had much experience with the Global Call to Action and spreading the message of peace. However, after telling myself again and again that change can only come through action, not just thoughts, I decided I needed to take the next step and really participate in the process of helping to make this world a better place.
So now I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't take the time out of my schedule to do these things when it really is so simple, especially when there are people out there doing far more than I have and with less ability. I can't wait to meet my group and hear what they have to say, because I think that is going to be the most interesting part of this whole experience. I just hope I don't disappoint as someone that others can look up to and am able to provide a helping hand or an encouraging word that can brighten someones day. |
