Bolivian President Dedicated to Giving Women Fair Representation in His Cabinet
Posted 4/29/2010 at 5:09 PM by Jen C
Hello All,
So after my last blog (Accepted Epidemic of Hate and Violence Against Women), which really expressed a lot of my frustration and anger with the mistreatment of women internationally, I was really happy to find this article. It is the little triumphs and unexpected allies that give me hope for our future.
The article titled, "Unprecedented Gender Parity in Cabinet" talks about Evo Morales, the president of Bolivia, and his amazing and awesome move to make his cabinet equally women and men for his second term. While a move like this was unprecedented and unexpected, it has received a good public response (yeah!). Additionally, of the 10 women in the cabinet, 3 are Indigenous, another population that deserves and needs fair representation in government. So take a look at the article and send some kudos towards Bolivia and President Morales. He, much like Oscar Arias, seems to be leading the way in creating a more forward thinking, peaceful and inclusive idea of politics.

peace of mind, jen
