I just got back from a very full and inspiring weekend in Memphis, Tenn. for the 2010 Midsouth PeaceJam conference with Shirin Ebadi. It was a wonderful experience to interact with PeaceJammers from another region, and I would like to remind Heartland PeaceJammers, mentors, advisers and friends that you too can talk to and interact with these fine people via the PeaceJam website. Shirin Ebadi already has some of her photos up from the weekend, and there are so many more pouring in by the day. And don’t forget to share what you’re doing, as well. As Shirin pointed out, the internet is a valuable tool for sharing knowledge and mobilizing for change.
To that capacity, I would like to ask each and every one of you to show your support to Shirin, who is currently in exile from her home in Iran, as well as to the countless Iranians struggling for democracy. A Midsouth PeaceJammer has created this image. Please, spread it around to show your solidarity to our Iranian friends.
And also, do not forget about those people in Haiti who are still suffering after that devastating earthquake. I will be sharing what I find in this thread, and please consider sharing your own finds with us as well. Thank you, everyone!
P.S. It was also lovely seeing he fabulous VISTA team and the Midsouth PeaceJam staff. It was a wonderful conference weekend!
Oh, and you can read more about Heartland happenings here. |
