1. The Film nights were great. Our kids got to meet two different film makers and also meet Miss Former Navajo Nation. (shout the story of domestic violence, by sam nuttman: and Hearing Radmilla Cody by Angela Web).
2. Our kiddos want to create their own film. To start off we were invited to participate in next months Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month - we choose to focus on the positive and we are locally going to work with other agencies on Healthy Relationship Awareness Month. We will be participating in the Love is... Campaign. Our first short film will be on filming people in interviews answering the question, Love is... to them. We will also host an art auction screening their short film on Love is... and they will also be auctioning off photographs they have taken. This will hopefully help us raise money to attend the 2012 Durango Film festival.
3. We will be working on collaborating with Fort Lewis College and mentoring student to create our biger film on What violence looks like to them in their eyes, and how violence effects them in their lives on their reservation.
4. We will also be completing our victim services bags for victims and will give them out next month. The bags will have pamphlets, toiletries, toys, and gift certificates. The bags are hand painted with positive phrases such as: Be strong and hopeful, Too kool to be cruel. |
