Who We Are
PeaceJam Connecticut exists as a collaboration with Western Connecticut State University, which acts as a host University.
WCSU is excited to host PeaceJam trainings and events for teachers and high school and middle school students from across Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts.
We will be hosting two youth-leadership conferences a year: a slam in the fall to kick-off the program year and a conference with a Nobel Peace Prize winner in the spring to celebrate all the PeaceJammers' accomplishments. The PeaceJammers will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and family groups where they will discuss important issues in today’s society and to bring the award-winning PeaceJam curriculum into their schools and classrooms.
Dr. Christopher Kukk, the Director of the Center for Compassion, Creativity, and Innovation and the Kathwari Honors Program emphasizes that: “To be successful, you have to do and not just think; we have a lot of thinkers in our world, but very few doers and teaching this to high school students will be so great.”
